The Question:
Hi Dennis, I spoke to you a long time ago. We have a 5 yr old green horse that we need help with. She has bucked my son and I off and we are a little nervous about riding her. She has only been ridden about 18 times, mostly by the previous owners. Would this clinic help us and/or do you need a horse to work with at the clinic? I will buy a ticket for my son and horse if this clinic will help us with her. Please let me know asap.-Lisa Belcher
The Answer:
The reason I call what I do horse communication, is because that is exactly what we need to be able to do anything with our horse. We will mostly be doing groundwork, and teaching you and your horse to communicate with each other. All groundwork (in my way of thinking), applies to riding. There could be many reasons why you are getting bucked off. Some I already know. One is your fear of getting bucked off. When a person has fear, this person lacks confidence. When you are on a horse's back you must be his alpha. If you lack confidence then you are not his alpha, he is yours. He sees no reason to pack you around if he does not owe you anything, and he owes nothing to anyone except his alpha, but to alpha he owes everything. That's just one of the many things we need to know about horses and that horses need to know about us. The way a person rides is another. If you are not balanced the horse may buck. If you have an ill fitting saddle, the horse will buck. If the horse has a physical problem, this could also make him buck. I doubt that I can make you an award-winning horseman and your horse a world champion in one clinic. However, I will be able to get you started on the horse life you are looking to have. Hello Dennis,We are doing great! Just very busy with 4-H and such. Bryan is now riding bare back and doing great with his mare, Blitz. I am riding my horse and we are connecting very well! Thank you so much for all your help!!!!
