Hi Dennis!
What an awsome day we spent learning with you and our horses. My mother and I really enjoyed ourselves. The horse my mom was borrowing is used in my riding program, but I was still a little worried at first when my mom was gung ho to ride bareback (she hasn't even been in the saddle during the year) and it has been many years since she was able to spend time with horses. We found a bed and breakfast in Nehalem and a hot bath for her. We stayed the night. Surprisingly the next day, rain coats and bright orange pants (for the hunters) we took to the beach. This time mom got the saddle! We rode at a walk for 3 or 4 hours, practicing overcoming fear, building confidence, and teaching mom to steer with her seat bones. I think it was our best beach trip ever in 30+ years!
We got very brave after our ride to try tackless loading into the trailer after successfully getting my little mare to lie down in the sand. (I cheated and then let her roll afterwards too) But I thought you'd enjoy this picture taken in the parking lot at Nehalem Bay State Park. scroll down.........
We heard gun shots and I told her she was the wrong color to be messing around. I suggested that she should go hide in the trailer!
Thanks again,
